The active area of each Oia Patch contains up to 2700 micro-needles. Each micro-needle is about 600 µm tall and formed from active ingredients & trehalose, a natural sugar, making it an ideal means for delivering those active ingredients deep into the skin beyond the outer epidermis layer.

What are the needles made of?

Trehalose

Oia’s micro-needle structures are made from trehalose, a naturally occurring sugar. It is found in food items such as honey and is used in artificial tear drops to treat dry eyes. The long history of use and proven safety of trehalose assures the safety of Oia's micro-needle patches.
